Bonfire Hill White 2017

The Drift
Bonfire Hill White

We love this because...

It's just a super-tasty white that combines tons of character with real versatility. Chenin, Grenache & Rousanne combine to deliver a crisp, dry white that has a real mix of citrus and stone fruit flavours and will go brilliantly with a whole host of companions.

The wine

The Bonfire Hill White again celebrates some of the more extreme aspects of South Africa’s diverse wine growing regions. It draws predominantly on vineyards in the warmer regions of Swartland and Voor Paardeberg where there are amazing old vine plantings of a host of varieties with Chenin and the Rhone whites being dominant. For the Bonfire Hill White Bruce works with Trizanne Barnard, another of the Cape’s most exciting young winemakers, with Trizanne bringing her distinctive touch to the finished wine.

The aim of the Bonfire Hill white is to allow the fruit to shine through so the winemaking process is kept very straight forward with fermentation and aging in stainless steel delivering the purest expression of the vineyards. Old-vine Chenin provides the core of the wine offering crisp, refreshing acidity and citrus notes with the Rousanne and Grenache Blanc contributing texture and mouthfeel alongside richer peach and melon fruit. Another great example of how white blends can offer wines that are greater than the sum of their parts.
